Thereare glaciers on my roof. I had always thought the idea of shoveling
roofsto be ridiculous. Everyone up here talks about it. I never could imagine
enough snow on the roof so that I would have to get it off, lest the whole
thing would collapse. This morning I went out to breakfast. I was actually
looking to learn something about wood stoves, but the subject of shoveling
roofs came up. I had noticed some odd icicles where they shouldn't be.I guess
I had kind of known what they were but I didn't know what to do.I have glaciers
on my roof.
Ilearned at breakfast that my only course of action was to time a good roof
shoveling with a lucky thaw. It is supposed to be warm tomorrow. I shoveled
my roof today. There were truly large ice masses under the snow. Hopefully
the sun will coax them off my roof to form u-shaped valleys elsewhere,or
to break off into burgs that will sink little snow titanics in my yard.It
appears you can learn about wood stoves on the web, but ice, ice ismore complicated.
It takes years to understand, and I am just starting.
