Fox Deaths

Foxes may die of starvation or of old age.

Fdie = Foldage + Fstarve

Since the average fox lives for only two years, one half of the fox population dies every year. This means that 1/24th of the fox population dies every month.

Foldage = Fstart / 24

Additionally, each fox requires four rabbits every week in order to survive (16 rabbits per month). If there are less than 16 rabbits per month on average for each fox, then some foxes will die of starvation.

The number of foxes that starve each month depends on the number of foxes alive at the beginning of the month and the amount of food available to each fox.

Fstarve = Fstart * fFS(x)

The fox-starvation fraction fFS(x) depends on the average number of dead rabbits available per fox, x.
