Throughout the history of the Foundation, the directors have held that the Foundation should seek to benefit the Black River Valley area, from Boonville in the South to Carthage in the North,  by providing financial support to not-for-profit organizations fulfilling community needs which neither government nor private enterprise could reasonably accomplish. Such needs, the directors have maintained, may be cultural, educational, or civic.

Since its founding in 1962, the Foundation has averaged approximately $100,000 in annual contributions to the following organizations and other activities and causes, and to its scholarship and workership programs. With the prudent management and stewardship of its directors, the Pratt-Northam Foundation should be able to carry on its good works for many years to come.

The Pratt-Northam Foundation provides many workerships that are simply lifeguards. From Carthage to Boonville, there are dozens of lifeguards that can work because of grants from our foundation. Here are a couple of lifeguards conducting swimming lessons at Beaver Falls Beach.

This is the Constableville Recreation Pavilion. It was built with funds provided in a grant from the Pratt-Northam Foundation. During the winter months it serves as an ice arena, with summer usage being a picnic and gathering place.

The Croghan Recreation Pavilion was built just a couple of years ago. Its existence came about partly to the thanks of the Pratt-Northam Foundation. During the winter, it is used for hockey and open skating, while its summer use is family reunions and the Farmers' Market
