The Basic Model
The basic model of life on the island takes into account the rabbits and the grass they feed on. On the island there are fat rabbits and thin rabbits; fast and slow rabbits; black, white, and multicolored rabbits; rabbits of all kinds. A number of assumptions have been made in order to simplify the model.
There are no seasons on the island. It is always warm and sunny.
Although each rabbit on the island is unique, the model treats the population of rabbits as a group of average individuals.
The model is based on a monthly cycle - given the critical values (inputs) at the start of a month, the model predicts the critical values at the end of the month.
